Santa Clara Unified Council of PTAs

Programs & Services

Reflections
SCU Council PTA encourages all units to participate in National PTA's arts expression and achievement program, Reflections.  Since 1969, over 10 million children across the nation have participated in this popular PTA program.

The participating unit PTA will promote Reflections, collect and judge entries at their unit.  Entries passed on to SCU Council PTA are due to Council by November 2.  Artists of entries passed to Council are invited to a reception on Monday, November 16, 6:30pm in the Santa Clara Unified School district board room.

Red Ribbon Week
The purpose of Red Ribbon Week is to present a unified, positive and visible commitment toward a safe and drug-free America.  PTAs are encouraged to plan prevention activities and programs in schools and communities to support a healthy, drug-free lifestyle.
Honorary Service
Honorary Service Awards (HSAs) are designed as a unique way for PTA units, councils, and districts to publicly acknowledge both individuals and organizations for outstanding community service to children and youth in a community.

SCU Council recognizes volunteers and organizations in our community that benefit children and youth at the SCUSD level.  Honorary Service Awards are presented at SCU Council's Spring Dinner & General Association Meeting.   Nominations for the 201-2018 SCU Council PTA Honorary Service Awards are due February 28.

SCU Council encourages all units to participate in this popular program.

Holiday Dinner & Scholarship Fund Basket Silent Auction
SCU Council PTA raises funds annually for a graduating SCUSD high school senior scholarship fund.  Monies raised at our Holiday Dinner Basket Silent Auction provide the funds for scholarships for each year's class.

Spring Dinner & Awards Night
SCU Council celebrates the second half of our year with our Spring General Association Meeting, Dinner & Awards Night.  We celebrate membership awards and recognize outstanding members of our community with Honorary Service Awards.

SCUSD Graduating High School Senior Scholarships
For over twenty years, SCU Council PTA has offered graduating SCUSD senior high school students continuing education scholarships.  The scholarship application is due April 24, 2018.
Community Outreach Program ~ Donations to SCUSD AED Project
For many years, SCU PTA units & Council have been donating to a local agency that serves children, families and youth in our community.  Each unit and the Council choose an amount to donate to the agency.

At the September 7, 2013 SCU Council PTA General Association Meeting, the Council voted to dedicate our Community Outreach Program to the SCUSD Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Project.  Our choice is consistent with CAPTA's 2011 adoption of a resolution to support lifesaving AEDs in every California school.   SCUSD is fortunate to have an AED installed in every school, available to all students, parents, teachers and staff on campus.  Additionally, travelling high school teams carry a portable AED with them to every match.  SCUSD's AED Project works to maintain the AED equipment (batteries, pads, etc.).
  • SCUSD AED Program
    • Donation check payable to SCUSD due to Council by March 3
    • Will be presented at Spring Dinner
